Standing up for yourself, asking for help or stating what you need, want, and desire, for many of us, have long been taboo in our culture. I don't know about you but I was taught by my family and religious affiliation that stating a desire or need was selfish.
I remember watching an old movie about Catholic nuns and thinking it was incredible, that they were not supposed to ask for anything, including the salt at the dinner table. They had to wait for someone to notice they may like to have the salt passed! Truly, this is too how I was raised. To ask for anything was impolite and embarassing to my parents.
Fast forward to many moons in the future, I now see the many health benefits, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, tuning in to what I need and then seeking and asking for support, is not only good for the body but for the soul as well. It is imparitive to our health.
Here we have Self Care Sam/Sandy showing us how to ask for help.
If you need support let us know. We have many resources to share.
